Week Three

WIDE SHOT (WS) Also known as an Establishing shot, used to set the scene, i.e. give an indication of where the action is about to take place. Example:
http://www.imdb.com/media/rm3405482240/tt1046173

MID SHOT (MS)
Usually just the head and upper torso. A generic shot used in an interview situation. Has particular emphasis on a person, object or thing. Examples:
Interview

EXTREME CLOSE UP (ECU)
Places focus on an object, person or thing. Example just someone's eyes on screen, opening a door with just the focus on the hand to the door knob/handle.
This sort of shot is usually followed or lead with a MID SHOT and before that usually an ESTABLISHING SHOT. So there is a Where? answered with a WS, What answered with a MS and who answered with a ECU. This is not for all cases but gives some indication of why these shots are used.
Example:

Of Course I could have totally misinterpreted this task and ECU might really be the European consumers union.. and MS stands for METRO STATION and most likely, WS is probably an acronym for Weird Silence...

Convergence - My definition: the simplification of technology into one device. For Convenience, speed and efficiency!

Week Two Convergence Technologies

What will they come up with next? You name it, they make it..

We are living in the age of convergent technologies, where a 'microwave oven' convergent technology is something considered of the past, what I'm trying to say is that it's not cool, because its not a robotic fish or a USB microwave or a smart phone. Technology is a continual advancement, 2 years ago I thought battery powered cars would come around in about 10 years, today Hybrid cars are being manufactured. When i say what will they come up with next, you name it, they'll make it, I'll be there are already Robot chefs in some restaurant somewhere in the world!

How amazing is this navigation Technology!
